Is one of your skills building relationships with communities and partner organisations?Mo te turanga | About the roleGuide controllers during emergency situations on the best way to engage with iwi/Maori.Provide Guidance on Matauranga Maori to ensure that tikanga is integrated and its importance is understood.Empower and support hapu/iwi to undertake hazard monitoring and management strategies and be prepared for any hazard risks.Enable response and recovery during emergencies through Maori networks and focus groups creating resources and toolkits.Implement the Maori Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) framework and a relevant implementation plan.Encourage dialogue, action, projects and activities that assist whanau/hapu/iwi with disaster readiness, and which will continue to build resilience in the community.Influence and support the enablement of iwi and Maori contribution and leadership within the CDEM Group, providing specialist advice and support on all things Maori.Build and maintain enduring relationships with key Maori entities and representatives.Mo te tangata | About youExisting networks with Iwi/Maori across the Waikato region.Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.Demonstrated ability to establish and sustain successful and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, elected officials, and executive level officers.Highly competent in use of MS Office, MS Teams, and Outlook.Strategic and tactical thinking skills.Excellent knowledge of Matauranga Maori, Te Tiriti, and Te Ao Maori.Ability to deliver in a political environment that could be high pressure and rapidly changing.Have availability to be included in an on-call 24/7 Group Emergency Coordination Centre Duty Officer roster.Mo nga pukenga | Qualifications and experienceTertiary qualification or relevant experience.Minimum seven years' experience in a relevant area.Project management experience.Has completed, or is committed to completing Civil Defence Emergency Management - Integrated Training Framework (ITF): Foundation, Intermediate.Has completed or is committed to completing IAP2 (International Association for Public Participation) or equivalent.Mo te tima | About the teamReporting to the Team Leader – Resilience and Recovery, you will work closely alongside community resilience staff and the wider CDEM staff.You will be working with a broad range of stakeholders across the Waikato Regional Civil Defence Emergency Management Group comprising of a consortium of 11 local authorities, iwi, emergency services, lifeline utilities, welfare services organisations, government departments and non-government organisations that operate in the Waikato.Our risks are as diverse as the region we care for; from the coastlines of the Coromandel Peninsula to the 'super-volcano' in Taupo.We work hard to care for the mighty Waikato, so current and future generations will benefit from a healthy environment, strong economy, and vibrant communities.Mo te tuku tono | How to applyPlease note WRC is shutting down its offices over the summer holiday period, and applications will not be reviewed until 13 January 2025.For a copy of the role description, please click here.If you have any questions about the role, please contact ****** click 'apply' and include your CV and cover letter as a pdf.
