Lead the stewardship of the State Highway networkHelp build enduring relationships with our communities, and a future-focused transport systemPermanent opportunity, based in GisborneTe Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity We have an opportunity for a Senior Network Manager to join the team responsible for the Gisborne/Tairawhiti network.
In this role, you will help lead the stewardship of the State Highway network and ensure the maintenance of all the assets and facilities across the highway system are managed effectively, the access and use of the highway network is maintained, and that pavement designs/methodologies are approved.
As a key member of our Network Management team, you will provide technical advice and support when required, work closely with Maintenance Contract Managers, and be responsible for the delivery of our regional maintenance and operations programme.
Key to success in this role will be your strong relationship management and collaboration skills, coupled with robust customer and stakeholder management engagement experience.

Sound organisational, asset management and negotiation skills accompanied with good decision making will be important for success.
Ideally, you will have:
Strong relationship management and collaboration skillsTechnical and practical experience in Road Asset Management or similarExperience at dealing with complex and sensitive issues in a political environmentExperience working across central and local government would be advantageousSolid knowledge and understanding of delivering best value solutions within a constrained budgetExperience in emergency response, Lifelines or resilience activitiesStrong customer and stakeholder management skillsA Bachelor of Engineering or a relevant tertiary/trade qualificationNZ Driver's Licence (or equivalent) is requiredIn return, we can offer a professional and committed team, an excellent working environment that provides flexible employment practices and 5 weeks annual leave.
