Site resources are being increased and different ways of working are being tried.The Practice Leader role will be operating in a way that ensures all practice expectations and standards are maintained by Social Worker staff and includes partnering with colleagues where appropriate.
This site has three teams which offer a different approach to statutory social work; each team has different models of practice, and the Practice Leader would provide support to the supervisors and teams around ensuring the models are implemented well and that there is a high standard of social work practice across the site.We are a site that is continually looking for innovative ways to shape our practice and provide opportunities for growth and learning.
We are looking for a practice extraordinaire to champion social work practice across the site.
You will coach, develop, mentor and supervise social work staff to help our tamariki, rangatahi and whanau.Two of our teams are holding the C&P and YJ files for our young people, so it would be desirable to have both care and protection and youth justice experience.Nga pumanawatanga ou | What you will bringThe ideal candidate for this role is an experienced Social Worker who has worked in Aotearoa in a similar role in a non-governmental organisation (NGO) sector and/or someone who has worked within Oranga Tamariki previously.
An added bonus would be experience with both Care and Protection and Youth Justice.Key requirements of the role include:Full registration with New Zealand's Social Work Registration Board (SWRB)A social worker qualification recognised by the SWRBA full, clean, current driver's licenceExpert experience in managing complex practice and caseworkThe ability to work collaboratively with peers and stakeholdersSound knowledge of relevant legislation and experience of what Oranga Tamariki does and how we workResilience, initiative and a proactive approachEmpathy, patience and the ability to see past what someone may be struggling withSound judgement, time management and organisational skillsThe ability to manage risk and make tough decisionsCultural awareness and confidence to back yourselfUnderstanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices, in particular; knowledge of tikanga Maori, and Pacific peoples' cultureNou te rourou | What's in it for youOranga Tamariki offers an impartial remuneration package that provides progression annually for experience through tenure.
