As a Childbirth Educator with Barnardos Bumps to Babies team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a supportive team, leverage your interpersonal skills, and share your expertise to enhance the well-being of families within our community.

About the role The role is based in the Palmerston North office, and delivers antenatal and postnatal education to the MDHB wider area (specifically in Palmerston North and Feilding so travel may be necessary). Our classes are mainly during weekday evenings and weekends so flexibility is key. There is an administration element as well as community networking. You will be in a small team of 6 with 3 other educators, an administrator and Team Leader.
This role is 20 hours per week.

Skills and Experience Exceptional Interpersonal Skills: As a Childbirth Educator, your ability to connect with individuals and create a nurturing environment is paramount. Your interpersonal skills will be the cornerstone of building trust and providing personalised support to expectant and new parents.
Antenatal and Postnatal Expertise: We are seeking an individual with a wealth of knowledge in both antenatal and postnatal education. Your expertise will guide parents through the entire childbirth journey, ensuring a seamless transition into the joys and challenges of parenthood.
Experience and/or Qualifications in Childbirth Education: Your hands-on experience or recognised qualification in childbirth education are crucial to providing evidence-based and comprehensive support to our community members.

You will be a well-organised and knowledgeable Educator, as well as having:
previous experience in a similar or related role
proven planning and organisation skills
a passion for working with whanau to help improve perinatal health outcomes
great communication skills, both verbal and written
