Your responsibilities will include hands-on labs, network protocols, architecture design, and student mentorship.
You will also actively engage with industry tools like Cisco, AWS, Azure, and VMware, ensuring the curriculum remains aligned with current industry trends and standards.
The appointing salary for this role will be between $79,000.00 and $90,000.00, dependent on skills and experience.
The Academic IT Network Lecturer is based in our Center for Information Technology| Te Pukenga reporting to the Dr Blaine H. Rakena and will be responsible for:  Delivering engaging lectures and labs: Design and present high-quality lectures and practical sessions, creating course materials and assessing student performance.
Updating course content: Remain current with industry trends and revise course materials to reflect the latest in Networking developments.
Mentoring students: Guide and support students in navigating their academic journey and preparing for their careers.
Collaborating with colleagues: Work with faculty to enhance curriculum and share best practices.
Participating in curriculum development: Contribute to curriculum reviews and ensure high academic standards.
Engaging in research: Maintain an active research profile and contribute to academic publications.
Candidates are expected to work towards a PhD if not already acquired.
He korero mou| About you To be successful in this role you will have: Proficiency in ITIL frameworks: Understanding ITIL levels 1-2 for helpdesk operations and incident management.
Windows Server Administration: Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and server roles.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
Virtual Machines (VMs): Ability to manage VMs across hypervisors (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
Networking protocols: Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls .
Teaching skills: Capability to deliver quality instruction in various IT subjects.
Qualifications| Tohu Candidates must meet specific educational and certification requirements: Educational Background: A Master's or PhD in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Instructor Certifications:   o Cisco CCNA Certified Instructor (CCNA 1-3).
o CompTIA A+ Instructor certification.
o Cisco Security Instructor certification (highly preferred).
o AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
o Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104).
