About us Te Tari Pureke has been stood up as the firearms regulator in Aotearoa New Zealand and is the new place for people interested in the safe use and possession of firearms.
Our vision is the possession and use of firearms in Aotearoa is the safest in the world.
To achieve this, Te Tari Pureke delivers four core functions: effectively implementing the firearms licensing system; managing the Firearms Registry; educating people to enable compliance with their legislative responsibilities; and promoting the safe use of legitimate firearms.
We are committed to fostering a culture of safety and responsible firearms use by working collaboratively with the firearms community, other stakeholders, and agencies, to promote safety, responsible gun ownership, and licence holder awareness of their responsibilities.
About the role The Compliance & Resolutions Officer is an integral role in ensuring regulatory and legislative requirements are met by our firearms licence community.
The Compliance & Resolutions Officer will support regulatory compliance and deliver a high-quality service the public deserve and expect.
Your contribution will build a culture of high performance which results in a team that is inclusive, innovative, agile, and passionate in meeting Te Tari Pureke outcomes.
This role is based in Palmerston North.
The role is rotational and to meet the needs of Te Tari Pureke and your own development, you may be rotated within the other teams which form Te Tari Pureke.
Key Accountabilities: Assess licence applications, permits and endorsements.
Ensuring licence holders understand their responsibilities through education and intervention in order to improve compliance.
Once trained, understand the application of improvement notices, prescribed conditions, warning letters, temporary suspensions, revocations, and refusals.
Providing accurate information and recommendations.
Ensuring compliance activities are completed in a timely, efficient, and effective manner.
Maintain accurate and detailed records.

The successful applicant will have: Good computer and great writing skills.

Ability to understand and read New Zealand legislation (once trained) to do so.

Solid interpersonal skills and self-confidence.
Excellent admin skills, a keen eye for detail, and pride in your work.
Special requirements: Applicants need to have valid New Zealand work rights.
This role is set at Individual Contributor level , this means your key purpose is "to deliver or enable others to deliver Our Business".

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $69,337 to $73,464 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
