This is a part-time role that will utilise your clinical experience. We are seeking a fully qualified, experienced Veterinary Nurse/Tech to join our Invercargill Centre team. Working closely with a solo Vet onsite with overlapping days, you will provide high professional standards of veterinary care for animals presented to, and under the care of, SPCA.As the sole Vet Nurse, you will assist with the running of our newly established veterinary clinic within the Invercargill SPCA Centre with the Veterinarian. You will also receive collegial and professional support from our Veterinary teams in Christchurch and Dunedin, when required.If you enjoy having a busy and interesting case load, while working in a tight-knit passionate team then this could be the perfect job for you. This is your chance to make an exciting move from private practice to shelter medicine This role provides both a unique personal challenge and satisfaction in knowing that you will make a real difference to the animals of New Zealand that need our help and care.What we need from you:Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, head nurse or practice management advantageous.Confident with routine surgery and medicine practices.High level of competence around anaesthetic monitoring and pain management with experience to support this.Excellent personal communication skills, including face-to-face, written, video conferencing.Strong time management, organisational and planning ability, and budget management.Confidence and experience in handling a wide variety of animals (domestic, un-socialised and wildlife).Confidence and experience in making difficult decisions.Experience in Shelter medicine is preferred, but not essential.A sound understanding of, and empathy with, the goals and values of SPCA.Ability to work in a high performance, fast-paced environment.What we can offer you:Opportunity to work with a devoted team whose core values are about reducing suffering and improving the welfare of animals in need.A well-organised, sterile layout, equipped with a preparation area, a large surgical room suitable for various procedures, cat and dog recovery areas, and most modern supportive equipment.Attractive and competitive salary to work for the leading animal charity in New Zealand.Onsite free parking.For further information about this role, please refer to the position description (available via the SPCA Join Our Team page).Our SPCA PurrksWorking with SPCA offers numerous perks.
