Due to a member of the team leaving for mental health reasons, we are looking for someone to fill the 2IC position on the farm. We milk 800 cows through a 50 bail rotary shed with ACR's and Pro-track. The cows wear Allflex collars for health monitoring and heat detection. The farm is fully irrigated with 4 center pivots and a fixed grid. The farm is self-contained with work ranging from milking to drenching young stock on the runoff block across the road. The farm is located right beside Culverden, with accommodation within walking distance of the township and the local school. We are 1/2 an hour from Hamner Springs and 1 hour from Rangiora. We are on the lookout for a rockstar Assistant Manager/2IC who is looking to settle into a position, prove their skills and passion. As we have multiple family-run farms, there is always opportunity to grow in management and responsibility. We are looking for someone who is confident, honest, reliable, a team player, has great communication skills, and a willingness to learn and be passionate about dairy farming. Be willing to work as part of a team and able to work independently. Cows are a huge priority, so excellent husbandry skills and keeping of farm records are essential. 3+ years experience is a necessity. Show pasture management skills and have confidence to make informed decisions. Exceptional organisation skills to manage your time efficiently to ensure a work-life balance. Be confident with feeding cows and maintaining and using machinery. High standard in milking and shed hygiene. Hold a current clean class 1 driver's license. Be drug-free (may require drug testing). Great opportunity for a confident and experienced 2IC. We are located 7km from Morrinsville and 30 mins from the center of Hamilton with many great schools and daycares close by. We have a good herringbone shed with automatic cup removers and a feed pad which joins to our yard. Our herd is run without replacements as we buy in new stock each year, which means we have no heifers to train in the shed during calving. All machinery is near new, and we pride ourselves on keeping an efficient and well-maintained farm. The right candidate will have experience with loading up and feeding out on a feed pad, a good understanding of pasture management, and a willingness and interest to develop knowledge in this area.
