Care and Support Worker - Kaiawhina, PapakuraCare and Support Worker RIDSAS – PapakuraOne on one support worker roles on offerSupport with gaining NZQA QualificationsMo te tunga | About the roleWe are looking for a care and support worker to join our professional team. This role will be working with our RIDSAS service, which is a specialised service that provides support for both male and female tangata (Care recipient) with high or complex needs. These tangatas have been directed by the courts under the Intellectual Disability (Compulsory Care and Rehabilitation) Act and will need a high level of 1:1 care to help them on their rehabilitation journey. This will include:Assisting with physical & personal care ensuring good personal hygiene such as washing, showeringSupport with cooking, household/property cleaning and other maintenance to keep the home a healthy & safe placeAdministering medicationDriving to appointments, gym classes, and the supermarketVariety of other duties which enable them to have a somewhat independent lifestyleIt is important you can work to a rotating roster including weekends. The shifts are as below:7am-3pm3pm-11pm11pm-7am (sleep over/wake over includes an additional allowance)1pm-9pmKo wai koe | About YouThis is an opportunity to start or grow your career in the disability sector. Working within RIDSAS will equip you with the experience and skills needed to support rehabilitation. While the successful applicant will receive training and support, we are looking for someone with the following skills and aptitudes:Qualification in health and wellbeing or community support worker, mental health and disability sectors would be advantageous, however not mandatoryBe confident, practical, and have good listening skills to address the needs of our tangataPrevious experience in completing personal care responsibilities is desirableHave a solution-focused approach to issues and an empathetic approach to interactions with othersPhysically fit and able to lift along with having the ability to be on your feet for most of the dayPlease note:Full, clean class 1 driver's licence with no restrictions is mandatoryYou must be residing in and legally entitled to work in New Zealand for at least 18 months as this role is not open for sponsorships.Te Whariki Whakaruruhau is the Te Roopu Taurima (TRT) model of service that recognises the intrinsic value and relationship of tangata (people we support), their whanau, and kaimahi (staff). As a kaupapa Maori service, we strive to make a difference in the lives of tangata by surrounding them with a caring environment based on Maori values of respect and whanau.
