We are looking for an inspiring and passionate Maori teacher to join our kura, starting term 1 2025. This role will involve teaching Te Reo Maori along with other core subject areas - through shared negotiation. Working with our Kapa haka whanau is also a desirable. Applicants must have the skill and confidence to lead our Kura in Tikanga Maori, powhiri processes and other relevant school events. As a school community, we provide a caring and inclusive teaching and learning environment, with a responsive pastoral support system. Our whole school values, PB4L approach and focus on whanaungatanga and culturally relevant practice, guide our culture, tikanga and pedagogy.  A deep understanding and active, living commitment of Te Tiriti o Waitangi with the implementation of Matauranga Maori incorporated into our school curriculum, pedagogy and culture is crucial. Attributes and characteristics to build and maintain professional and effective relationships, with high-level communication and interpersonal skills that enable the effective day-to-day management of the school is essential.  Albany Junior High School operates under the PPTA, Secondary Collective Agreement and offers a minimum of 5 non-contact hours per week. Applicants must be well versed in the NZC, have current NZ teacher registration. Applicants must have either NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
