The roleVessev is creating a new era of how we move on water, and we need a world-class engineer to join the Electrical team.In May of last year, we made headlines around the world (Forbes, Electrek, New Atlas, Forbes Australia) with the launch of our first product - the VS—9, a fully electric, fully hydrofoiling commercially certified platform.
This is a generational technology, and we are in the earliest innings of this great transition.At Vessev, we are entering mass production for the VS—9 and larger platforms are entering the initial construction phase.
Thus we are scaling up our engineering, operations, and production teams to rise to this global challenge.This is where you enter.As an engineer in the Electrical team at Vessev, you'll be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge electrical systems that power next-generation marine technology.
From concept to commissioning and operations, you'll own the full lifecycle of electrical systems across multiple vessel classes.
Think high-performance battery systems, power electronics, drive systems, next generation power distribution, and their integration with the other parts of the vessel.Internally, you'll work with the Head of Electrical and the rest of our wider team.
At Vessev, you will push boundaries, turning bold concepts into reality and shaping the future of maritime innovation.What your day could look likeDevelop Electrical SystemsYou will be analysing the performance of electrical systems, pushing the limits of what's possible to ensure we're setting the right requirements and picking the right components.
You will be working in electrical and mechanical CAD, and closely with other teams, to ensure all the parts fit together seamlessly.Hands on TestingYou might be building test rigs to validate a piece of electrical hardware, or performing testing on a prototype vessel.
We're not afraid to get our hands dirty; in fact, we encourage our engineers to dive in and ensure that we are not met with surprises when our vessels hit the water.InnovationYou will be asking yourself every day how we can do things better.
This might be identifying a better piece of equipment, or rethinking an approach to a problem.
You'll be at the forefront of innovation, consistently challenging the status quo and driving us towards ever-greater achievements.SafetyYou might be documenting components, designing rigorous tests to prove system reliability, or orchestrating full-blown destructive testing, you'll play a key role in ensuring every system meets and exceeds safety standards.RequirementsYou do not need to hit every requirement to apply.Qualifications and ExperienceA degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related fieldExperience with electrical system design, analysis and optimisationAn understanding of electrical design for productionBonus experienceExperience with electric vehicle drivetrains.Experience with lithium battery systems.Experience with vehicle based, or shore based EV charging systems.Knowledge of servo motors and drive systems.Hands on electrical experience.Proficient in Eplan.Proficient in data analysis using Python.Marine industry experience.If you have read up to this point and think Vessev is the right fit for you, we would be pleased to hear from you.Our companyOur purpose at Vessev is to propel a more liveable world - one with better commutes, fewer cars on the roads, additional routes to affordable housing, better connections with nature, clean air, and clean water.
