Permanent Position, Secondary Term Time OnlyOur vision is to empower young people to be the best they can be, equipped and inspired to courageously shape tomorrow's world.We are seeking to employ a lead laboratory technician to work alongside our part-time laboratory technician in our Science Faculty. This is a permanent part-time position for 35 hours per week, term time only.Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Support Staff in Schools Collective agreement, and this position has been graded as Grade 2.The position will include tasks such as:Collaboration with the Laboratory Technician and Science FacultyPreparing equipment for practical tests and internal assessmentsDelivering chemicals and equipment to laboratories or designated areasChecking and updating the risk assessment ordering systemManaging hazardous substances appropriately, including disposalRegular safety audits of the technicians' area and chemical storeInventory checking of equipment and resources, including term stocktaking for restockingAssisting with the use and maintenance of equipmentCleaning and maintaining equipment and glasswarePreparing chemicals and solutionsPreparing and maintaining standard sets of materials and equipmentAssisting Teaching Staff in class when requiredOrdering goods and checking deliveries received against invoicesAttending field trips when requiredThe successful applicant will have:A passion for scienceA suitable qualification and experience in a laboratoryAn interest in working with young peopleThe ability to work both independently and as part of a teamStrong communication and interpersonal skills – verbal and writtenPlanning and organisational skills to meet deadlinesYou must be eligible to work in New Zealand to apply for this position.
