How do you bring these to life in your mahi day to day?Leadership role, permanent position, Christchurch locationNga kawenga | About the role The primary purpose of the Deputy General Manager - Custodial Services is to support the General Manager at Christchurch Men's Prison (CMP) in championing and implementing national and regional initiatives designed to develop a one-team approach on-site, violence reduction, staff safety and ensure a consistent approach to prison management and reducing re-offending.
At CMP, you will be one of two Deputy General Managers – Custodial Services each with 5 custodial managers as direct reports.
As their leader, you will provide guidance and support for these managers; take the lead on most of the performance and disciplinary matters within custodial units; and be designated to stand in for the General Manager in her absence.
By demonstrating visible leadership, you will have the courage, passion and determination to deliver outstanding results, raising the bar for quality practice with a deep understanding, appreciation for, and genuine interest in the issues the tane in our care face.
Your leadership style will be inclusive and collaborative, and you will be able to clearly demonstrate your passion for building community relationships that maximise rehabilitation and reintegration outcomes.
Along with the above we would like to hear from you if you are able to demonstrate the following:
Proven experience in supporting management in a role requiring business planning, staff management and development, consultation, communication, and relationship management skills.An understanding of the factors impacting rehabilitation coupled with an excellent working knowledge of key agencies, both governmental and non-governmental, in the social/justice sectors.A commitment to working constructively towards our Hokai Rangi goals to lower the proportion of Maori in the Corrections system.The ability to understand and respect different cultural perspectives, particularly in relation to te ao Maori.Commitment to developing staff to improve performance, contribute to culture change and build management capability.Ability to develop and maintain strong working relations with external agencies and stakeholder groups, taking account of their strategic goals, pressures and priorities.Key to your success will be proven relationship management skills as the role requires significant community, agency, partnerships and stakeholder engagement.Custodial knowledge and or experience for this role would be advantageous but is not a requirement.The salary applicable for this position is Scale D of the Frontline Managers Collective.
This is divided across 6 salary steps ranging from $151,147 - $173,925 per annum.
Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role and as per the terms of the collective agreement.
