Health Improvement Practitioners (HIPs) work as members of primary care teams, to provide focused brief interventions for tangata experiencing mental and physical health and wellbeing challenges. We also support community and rural, marae-based clinics to provide improved hauora support, more choices, and improved access to health services for tangata whenua. As a HIP, you will: Receive foundation training in an integrated primary care model. Work as a generalist, seeing anyone of any age whose thoughts, feelings or behaviours are impacting on their health and wellbeing. Participate in regular peer support sessions with others working in this role. Work with the primary care team to build capability. This dynamic role reports to the local HIP Lead and links into the broader extended care team. Minimum Requirements: You are a registered health professional, with a current practising certificate. Experience in therapeutic approaches, which may include kaupapa Maori approaches, ACT, fACT, or CBT. Are committed to applying the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi to improve health outcomes for all. Flexibly able to adapt your approach to use language, models of health, and practices to ensure cultural responsiveness. A desire to train or work in roopu (group) facilitation. Have strong technology skills and computer literacy. Enjoy a responsive, fast-paced team environment. Are committed to continuous improvement.
