Every day, they are influencing, advising, and supporting Ministers, Crown CEOs and Government decision-makers to shape our country's collective tomorrow.Our Fiscal Reporting team is currently looking for a Government Reporting Accountant to join the team full time on a permanent basis.As a Government Reporting Accountant at the Treasury you'll be part of a dynamic, highly skilled team that is responsible for providing financial accounting direction to the public sector. We are committed to keeping New Zealand's reputation as being a world leader in government fiscal reporting.In this role, you will be closely involved in preparing the financial statements and forecasts of the Government as well as providing accounting advice on a range of issues. You will also have the opportunity to:Be part of the production of the Government's monthly financial statements and fiscal forecastsLearn and apply public sector financial management frameworksProvide support and advice to Government reporting entities and teams within the Treasury on accounting, appropriation and consolidation issuesCommunicate financial results in an effective manner to a range of stakeholders (e.g. Ministers)Contribute towards the effectiveness of the team via collaborationManage key internal and external stakeholder relationshipsThe appointing remuneration range for this role is between $100,000 and $125,000. This important work takes a special kind of person with a passion for making a difference and getting things done. The specific experience, skills, and qualities that will help you succeed in this role include:A Chartered Accountant qualification with at least two years (post qualification) of financial accounting or auditing experienceExcellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to represent the TreasuryA focus on continuous improvement and personal accountabilitySelf-starter with initiative who can think independently and drive outcomesExceptional relationship management skills and credibility to engage with and influence at all levelsExperience at consolidation accounting; Public sector experience would be helpful but is not essentialKo nga hua | What we OfferThis is an important job and that's why we'll do all we can to support your success.
