Job Description

Responsibilities:

  1. Assign and review the work of the laundry team engaged in receiving, washing, ironing, packaging, and delivering.
  2. Ensure that all the Standard Operating Procedures set for the laundry department are followed.
  3. Bring any matters which may affect the interests of the hotel to the attention of the Management.
  4. Plan and implement preventive maintenance for all the laundry equipment.
  5. Plan and budget the revenues and costs for the Laundry department.
  6. Check all laundry machinery to ensure that filters are cleaned regularly and press covers are in good condition; report any machine defects to Engineering.
  7. Identify optimal, cost-effective use of resources and educate the team on the same.
  8. Keep a strict control and record of items sent for laundering by staff members.
  9. Assist Executive Housekeeper in assessing team members' attendance and performance.
  10. Stay abreast of new developments in the laundry industry, trends in textiles, and chemicals for textile care.
  11. Ensure that the laundry equipment and area of work are maintained in a clean, safe, and hygienic manner as per the standards.
  12. Monitor and control consumption of power, steam, detergents, and other chemicals, and devise methods for optimal usage.
  13. Supervise and direct the daily activities of all laundry staff and ensure the efficient and smooth operation of the department.
  14. Co-ordinate with the Executive Housekeeper on the purchase and quality of room linen.
