About Us: Juken New Zealand Ltd (JNL) is an international forest and wood products company operating in local and global timber markets.
JNL owns three wood processing plants in the North Island, and forests in the Wairarapa and East Coast regions.
We work closely with our parent company in Japan – WoodOne.
The Role: We are now looking for an experienced and motivated candidate to take on a newly created Health and Safety Advisor – Forestry role.
You can be based at either our Wairarapa Forestry Office (located in Masterton) or our East Coast Forestry Office (located in Gisborne).
This is a full-time permanent position working a minimum of 40 hours per week.
The purpose of the Health and Safety Advisor - Forestry is to support the development and maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment.
Remuneration: $90-$110K + company car Key Responsibilities: Analysing, designing, delivering and evaluating H&S training and development needs Developing, implementing, and monitoring evidence based H&S improvement programs Developing, implementing, and monitoring performance of the Forestry Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) Ensuring appropriate collection and maintenance of H&S records Ensuring identification and effective management of H&S risks and critical risk controls.
Qualifications and Experience Essential: Intermediate level Microsoft Office skills Leadership skills with the ability to coach and provide feedback respectfully, combined with the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders Level 7 Graduate Diploma in H&S Management with 2+ years hands-on experience in a H&S role; or Level 6 Diploma with 5+ years hands-on experience - both in a New Zealand context Strong analytical skills Desirable: Experience in rural fire fighting Qualification, experience, or deep interest in psychology and change management Understanding of adult learning and development processes Understanding of commercial realities, and well developed business acumen.
