Deloitte New Zealand's Tax and Business Advisory team is a market leader and focuses on delivering value to small, medium and large sized enterprises. We help our clients across New Zealand and beyond to realise their full potential and put them on a pathway to grow and succeed.

What might your typical day look like? While a typical day is difficult to articulate, below are some key aspects of the role:

  1. Providing advice to clients on a range of business and tax issues, including in the context of transaction work, business operations and strategy, and domestic and international tax.
  2. Building relationships with key client contacts.
  3. Assisting in the preparation of financial statements and income tax returns, as well as assisting clients in managing their tax obligations throughout the year.
  4. Assisting in the preparation of management accounts, forecasts, budgets and various other metrics required by clients to monitor their business.
  5. Adopting different methods to collect and analyse data from various sources with the purpose of deriving insights for our clients.
  6. Assisting our clients to operate and improve their internal finance functions.
  7. Supporting the team by drafting and preparing a range of client deliverables under the guidance of the leadership team.
  8. Being part of the team culture, becoming a role model for our people and clients, as well as recognising others for the impact they make by their valued contributions.

You are someone with:

  1. 2+ years accounting and / or tax experience
  2. A bachelor’s degree in accounting (or similar)
  3. Completed or working towards your CA/CPA or equivalent
  4. Previous experience with Xero
  5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  6. Driven and highly committed
  7. Sharp and analytical
  8. Flexible and resilient
  9. A team player that values input and support from team members, but can also work autonomously.
