NZ RegCo, established in December 2020, is an independently governed entity that performs all frontline regulatory functions to support NZX's statutory obligations as a licensed market operator. We play an important role in regulating the capital markets, so they work in a fair, orderly, and transparent manner. Our purpose is to ensure investors, listed issuers, and market participants have confidence in the integrity and regulatory oversight of NZX's markets.

Team and Role

We are looking for an intermediate-level solicitor with at least three years of experience to take up a core role in NZ RegCo. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to be involved in stimulating and high-profile work at the centre of New Zealand's public capital markets.

This role sits in NZ RegCo's enforcement function, reporting directly to the Head of Market Conduct. You will work in the Market Conduct team, overseeing and monitoring listed issuers, and investigating and undertaking enforcement activity in relation to non-compliance with NZX's market rules, in line with NZ RegCo's enforcement policy. You will also advocate for conduct outcomes through strategic initiatives and projects.

What You'll Need:

  • A law degree and a current practicing certificate (or ability to obtain one), with 3+ years of PQE or other professional experience
  • Some work experience in, or a demonstrated interest in, capital markets or financial markets regulation
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with senior internal and external stakeholders
  • A healthy level of curiosity and professional scepticism
