Sewing Finisher

Machine Operators (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics)Full timeThe successful candidate will be an experienced sewer, ideally with wide format fabrics, responsible for the finishing of printed & unprinted media. An understanding of printing would be an advantage for this role. Mon-Fri hours, January 2025 start is preferred, in a creative and buoyant Bay of Plenty business.The Job:Finishing of product as required by the production schedule and finish specifications. This includes measuring, sewing and fitting of printed and unprinted media to meet product and customer order requirements.Achieving finishing productivity targets while ensuring a quality match to product specifications and that all documentation is completed for traceability and quality assurance.Continuously identify and realise every opportunity to improve productivity, product quality and safety in every part of the finishing function.Ensure that the finishing supervisor is kept fully informed of all issues that may impact on business performance (costs, product quality, safety and customer service).Continuously develop the skills and knowledge required to perform the role of finisher to the highest level of competence and maximise contribution to the business.Ensure that the work area is maintained in a tidy, clean and safe condition at all times & complete basic machine maintenance tasks/workspace cleaning.Assisting finishing supervisor in new product development and other projects.The Person:Experience with industrial sewing/finishing machines an advantage or professional sewer.A personality that can be both organised and adaptable – a real team player.Strong attention to detail for quality control checks.Ability to anticipate obstacles and respond accordingly to prevent wastage and delays.Problem solver that can think on their feet.A multi-tasker who is time aware and will go the extra mile.This is a physical role, which requires fitting to hardware and operating standup machinery, so a good level of physical fitness and body strength/flexibility is required.Good to Haves:A knowledge of wide format printing & SEG.All applications should have a covering letter and CV and be made through this Seek advertisement, addressed to John Heyworth, Director.
