Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.

About the Role

Applications are invited for Advanced Trainees to work in the cardiology department at Waikato Hospital for a six- or twelve-month run.

These positions are suitable for RMOs who have been successful in the RACP's Divisional Clinical Examination and are now wishing to pursue a career in Cardiology.

The department is a busy one, with representation from all cardiac subspecialties, including advanced imaging, electrophysiology, structural intervention, and acute cardiology. As an Advanced Trainee, you will be exposed to general and subspecialty cardiac diagnostics, interventions, and management for a wide range of cardiac pathologies.

If you are an overseas doctor, please visit the Medical Council of New Zealand website to ensure that your qualifications meet their criteria for registration to practice medicine in New Zealand. If you have undertaken registrar training outside of Australia or New Zealand, you will need to have RACP approval to proceed to Advanced Training through their Recognition of Prior Learning.

To be successfully appointed to this role, you will:

  • Have successfully completed the RACP's Divisional Written and Clinical Examinations
  • Have prior experience in Cardiology
  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand
