Aberfeldy School is a small, well-resourced rural school situated 25 minutes from Whanganui.

Our current principal is leaving us at the end of 2024 and we are looking for an energetic, experienced principal to hold the reins whilst we go through the journey of looking for our next principal.

Aberfeldy School is looking at starting 2025 with a roll of 10 students, this being a 50/50 split of local rural and urban tamariki. To support you in your role as a teaching principal, there is a 0.3 principal release teacher (with the possibility of this being extended to 0.4), a dedicated, experienced team of support staff, and an engaged, supportive Board of Trustees. Our school is part of our local rural cluster group where we take part in many EOTC adventures, collaborative learning opportunities and benefit from the support of the teaching and management staff of these like-minded schools.

We are looking for a principal that will:

  1. Be able to meet the Aotearoa New Zealand Principal Eligibility Criteria
  2. Have experience in multi-level classroom teaching, across all areas of the curriculum
  3. Be visible within and beyond the school grounds
  4. Lead by example by being an approachable, open communicator with staff, students and whānau.
