We are looking for an enthusiastic Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our client's vibrant, innovative and friendly team. Working in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, they have the privilege of being able to develop innovative new ways of looking after our diverse population.

Tauranga and Whakatāne are ideally situated for those who like to work, rest and play – beautiful beaches, stunning scenery, world-class schools, and a vibrant city culture. It is also a great base from which to explore New Zealand, Australia and Asia.

Their Maternal, Infant, Child, Adolescent Mental Health Service (MICAMHS) has a track record of innovation, clinical achievement, academic success and high performance. The MICAMHS service consists out of PIMHS (perinatal and infant (ages 0 – 5) mental health), a child team in Tauranga (ages 5 – 12), youth team in Tauranga (ages 13 – 18), Voyagers in Whakatāne (ages 0 – 18) and Incredible Years Specialist Services (IYSS).

Their Child Health Integrated Response pathway (CHIRP) is an integrated pathway for children with neurodevelopmental, mental health and behavioural concerns. They work alongside their Paediatric department, Child development team, School based Mental Health Teams and MICAMHS services to achieve shorter wait times, and collaborative assessments and interventions for young people referred with these concerns. CHIRP has been recognised internationally in the Improvement and Innovation space. They are establishing a trauma informed care approach according to international guidelines.

This is a permanent full-time position, however the FTE can be negotiable for the right candidate.

Criteria for this position:

  1. You need to be a Vocationally Registered Psychiatrist with the Medical Council of NZ or be eligible for this.
  2. Expert clinical experience and knowledge.
  3. Have fellowship of RANZCP or the equivalent is essential.
