Tararua Health Group is looking for an Extended Care Paramedic to join our dedicated team across our various sites.As our Extended Care Paramedic (ECP), you will collaborate with clinicians at Tararua Health Group (THG) and both iwi Te Kete Hauora O Rangitane and Ngati Kahungunu ki Tamaki Nui-a-Rua, to provide clinical case management for both scheduled and unscheduled low acuity patients of all ages.You will deliver paramedicine services within an acute care clinic setting, focusing on whanau-centred, holistic, supportive, and culturally appropriate health services.Our goal and primary aim of this position is to prioritise patients and whanau, supporting hospital avoidance, early supported discharge and assisting those at greatest risk of poor health outcomes. Our commitment is to provide care that is relevant to Maori, with the ultimate goal of promoting Maori wellbeing.Your key responsibilities:Conduct thorough clinical assessments of patients' medical histories and conditions.Order necessary pathology testing and interpret results.Develop short to medium-term care plans based on clinical diagnoses, with appropriate medical referrals as needed.Engage in phone and face-to-face triage.Provide telehealth and in-person consultations.Prescribe specified medications under standing orders.Order lab tests and x-rays under GP supervision.Perform suturing and wound management.Minimum requirements:To succeed in this role we welcome Paramedics with varying levels of experience, however our ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:Bachelor of Health Science in Paramedicine.A completed postgraduate diploma in health science paramedicine or coursework in Community and Remote Area Paramedicine, or be actively pursuing a relevant postgraduate diploma (or equivalent CAA accredited program).Current registration and an Annual Practising Certificate (APC) from Te Kaunihera Manapou Paramedic Council.Excellent critical appraisal skills to identify the best evidence-informed solutions to clinical questions.A comprehensive understanding of inequities in access and health outcomes in Aotearoa, New Zealand, and a detailed knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, ensuring it shapes our primary care efforts.Strong cultural competency, with knowledge of the peoples, languages, and cultures within our most at-risk communities.Fixed Term: (12 month) funded by Te Whatu Ora for the Comprehensive Primary Care Team project.Schedule: (days & hours to be confirmed)Remuneration: Competitive package and professional support for your development.If you are passionate about making a difference in the community and meet the above criteria, we would love to hear from you Apply now to join our Whanau at Tararua Health.
