Head Medical have O&G opportunities based in Tauranga in the Eastern Bay of Plenty region. This position is suitable for doctors possessing a minimum of 6 months O&G experience post foundation training. The Medical Service provides specialist services across the Bay of Plenty district, which incorporates two hospital sites in Tauranga and Whakatane (1 hour drive down the coast), delivering general internal medicine inpatient and outpatient services, plus a range of subspecialty services, to a population of approx. 260,000. This role will be based at Tauranga Hospital (359 bed, Level 2 Hospital). This position will provide exposure to comprehensive general gynaecology, antenatal and intra partum care. The department comprises 10 Consultant Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, one Senior Registrar, two Registrars and 8 SHO's. There is a focus on Maori health and a strong commitment to closing the gaps and reducing health inequalities by re-designing pathways with Maori (who make up 25.6% of the region's population), to promote better access to healthcare services. The Location Tauranga is now the 5th largest city in New Zealand with an urban population of 151,300 (regionally 255,102) and is only a 2.5 hour drive south of Auckland. It has always been a premier destination, but with the strong NZ economy and a buoyant housing market, Tauranga is now the fastest growing city in New Zealand. Tauranga, and in particular the suburb of Mount Maunganui, is well known for many things - the mountain (Mauao), the sunshine, the café and restaurant scene, the surfing, the white sandy beaches and natural salt water hot pools, the local markets with fresh produce, the safe and family-friendly lifestyle with excellent schools, and high-end real estate.
