As part of Mental Health and Wellbeing, Explore Hapainga Ora is the national provider for behaviour support in New Zealand and part of HealthCare New Zealand. We provide specialist behaviour support services to people with disabilities of all ages by working with their families/whanau and support networks. About the role | He korero whakamarama mo tenei turanga The key purpose of the Behaviour Specialist role is to deliver quality services based on a positive behaviour support framework which is consistent with our contract obligations with Whaikaha and other providers as required. The role is a permanent role based in Hamilton.
An exciting opportunity open to: People with a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or at least 3 years relevant experience in the disability fieldPsychologistsOccupational TherapistsSpeech and Language TherapistsSocial WorkersBehaviour Therapists/Specialists (BCBAs)TeachersWhat you will bring | Nga tohungatanga mo tenei turanga Experience in the field of disability and/or behaviour supportA current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) where this is requiredAn understanding of and commitment to: The Code of Health and Disabilities Services Consumer Rights, The Treaty of Waitangi and bi-cultural practiceGood interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport; proactive and responsive to client needs and colleagues/team needsExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including competence in professional report writingA current full New Zealand driver's licenceProven ability to work in teams and in a 'transdisciplinary' mannerKnowledge and understanding of the principles of evidence-based behavioural approachesAn understanding of Positive Behaviour SupportAn understanding of communication and the relationship with behaviourExperience of functional assessment and implementation of a behaviour planExperience with Microsoft Office Suite and client management systemsAbility to travel and flexibility to stay overnight to meet the demands of the roleWhy Us | He aha ai matou?
