Support Workers For Young Person

Waikato, New Zealand Community Living Trust Full time

The role Te Puna Awhina service of Community Living is currently recruiting to employ experienced staff, for a 13-year-old in Hamilton. We require a small team of staff to support the young person in her home and community, including taking her to activities like Equipotential. The young person enjoys weekly contact with family. If you are excited by an opportunity to make a real difference, we would like to hear from you. 
About you Staff should be resilient and have a positive attitude, as there are times when behaviour can be challenging. The young person has a disability and will require support to learn new skills, understand complex information and communicate with other people.
The successful applicants must have a FULL NZ Driver's license and will be a part of a focused team, working together with collective goals. You will be fully trained, with ongoing coaching and support.
Hourly pay rates range from $23.15 to 28.25 per hour depending on whether you have New Zealand Certificates in Health and Wellbeing.
Preference is for support workers who are:
Confident, strong, experienced femalesGreat at sticking to a routine, putting boundaries in place and following through with plansUnderstanding of trauma informed careAble to apply strategies to manage challenging behavioursInnovative and able to think on your feetEmpathetic and kind by natureAble to make good relationships with the young person, their whanau and other organisations/schools involved Able to work independently and as part of a teamFlexible to working rostered shifts, including weekends and sleepover shifts About us Community Living Limited is a respected provider of support for people living with an intellectual disability.  We work alongside each individual, designing a service that caters to their specific challenges, needs and the life they want to lead.
