We're looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our passionate F&B team in our Dark Sky Diner. This role will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef to create extraordinary culinary delights for our manuhiri (visitors), so if you have a love of kai and baking then this might be the opportunity for you
As a Sous Chef, some of your duties will include:
Assisting the team in managing kitchen production ensuring quality and consistency every time in line with guidelines.
Ensuring standards, costs and menu planning are carried out in a timely fashion, as agreed with the Head Chef.
Assisting the Head Chef with placing supplier orders and developing new food concepts.
Taking a hands-on approach in assisting, monitoring and overseeing all production, stock and operational kitchen concerns.
Helping the Head Chef develop the junior team members in the kitchen.
Assessing kitchen team performance and recognising training needs and potential as appropriate.
Ensuring that work is conducted in a clean and tidy way, monitoring on a continual basis as well as ensuring legislative and government H+S guidelines are adhered to.
To be successful in this role you will need:
Previous recent experience as a Sous Chef
NZ Certificate in relevant Chef/Cooking or similar
Sound computer skills
Be self-motivated, energetic and display an outgoing personality
Have previous experience with budgeting and menu costing
Be agile, highly organised and disciplined
The successful applicant will have an affinity for the needs and aspirations of our ultimate stakeholders, Ngai Tahu whanui. Alongside this, they will have an understanding of, or an eagerness to learn and engage with our Ngai Tahu values.
