The Opportunity
We are looking for a Dairy Farm Assistant to join our team on Renown Dairy. You'll be part of a supportive team and working in a learning environment where you can grow your skill set and gain valuable experience. We are committed to our staff, our animals, and the environment.
A typical day would include:
- Milking cows through a 60-bail rotary
- Break fencing, spraying, and some tractor work when required.
- Assisting with feeding calves during calving season
We provide high quality PPE to our farm staff and have a robust health and safety regime. You'll work with well-maintained, up-to-date farm equipment. Once you start, we'll assess your competency and provide training where needed for the farm Ute, tractor, two-wheeler, etc., to aid you in completing your tasks.
The Farm
Renown Dairy Unit is located between Taupō and Rotorua. 1450 cows are milked once a day through a 60-bail rotary shed that has a vast array of technology to help monitor & measure overall performance. The farm is set on 640 ha of varying terrain.
About You
You'll instantly fit in with your respect for health and safety, excellent animal husbandry skills, and your commitment to environmentally friendly farming practices.
You will also have:
- The ability to work as part of a team and unsupervised
- Clear communication skills
- Self-motivation, initiative, and a passion for dairy farming
- A current NZ restricted or full driver's licence
- Confidence riding a 2 wheel m/c would be an advantage
Dairy farming experience is not necessary but any experience you do have will be recognised and rewarded.
