We are stepping up to the challenge of a greener future, by focusing our business on delivering more renewable electricity to meet tomorrow's energy needs.About the roleWe are looking for a Dam Safety Engineer - Flow Control with proven experience in hydropower and water reservoir engineering, providing technical advice across a broad and diverse portfolio of dams, intake and outlet structures, flow control equipment and civil structural assets.To be successful in this role, you will be experienced working with stakeholders, have strong communication skills, be a collaborative leader and have a comprehensive understanding of dam safety flow control equipment.The purpose of the role is to lead performance monitoring and testing of dam safety flow control equipment, lead investigations that resolve identified issues, providing technical expertise for the scoping and execution of upgrades to flow equipment and ongoing reliability monitoring. This will ensure our assets are designed, constructed, operated, maintained, and enhanced, to optimise business outcomes and with risk informed decision making.The Dam Safety Engineer - Flow Control will deliver this by:Providing core technical and specialist advice to ensure that the scoping and execution of deficiency projects are aligned with good industry practice in collaboration with key business stakeholders.Leading the identification of solutions to address identified issues and deficiencies.Developing work scopes to address the highest risk items in the portfolio.Support improvements to the dam safety management system; dam safety deficiency programme and associated governance and reporting requirements.Deliver, encourage, and receive open and honest feedback in line with Manawa Energy's feedback culture.Skills and ExperienceRelevant degree in professional engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent.Through understanding of dam safety issues and deficiencies, particularly within flow control gates and valves and associated systems.Understanding the NZ Dam Safety Guidelines (NZSOLD) and NZ Dam Safety Regulations.Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience working in dam safety or water resources.Project delivery experience preferred.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Communicates and networks effectively.In return you will receiveDiscounted life insurance and free life and trauma insuranceFlexible working policy - the autonomy and trust to work flexibly from our purpose-built premises and some days from home, recognising the value of this flexibility in the modern world.About Manawa EnergyManawa Energy has 44 hydro power stations and one diesel peaking station across 26 schemes with an installed capacity of 510MW and annual average production of 1,942GWh.
