The PKW Group, includes PKW Farms LP and PKW Miraka Hipi LP, Taranaki’s largest dairy farmer with active business interests in dairy and dairy support, beef and livestock trading. The Partnership comprises 20 dairy and dairy support farms, covering around 4,000 hectares with 80 kaimahi and/or contractors supporting the farming operations. The Role
PKW is seeking an experienced and talented Farm Manager - Calf Rearing Unit to successfully manage PKW’s Calf Rearing Unit in South Taranaki. Reporting to the Drystock Farm Supervisor, the Farm Manager is responsible for the annual rearing of approximately 1,200+ Beef Cattle as well as some dairy replacements, the overriding objective of the Farm Manager on this 20-hectare property is to produce quality stock, that feed into subsequent parts of PKW’s farming operations. The farm is well-established and equipped with automatic and traditional calf-rearing equipment.
The position of Farm Manager – Calf Rearing Unit encompasses the following Key Accountabilities:
Oversee all aspects of the Calf Rearing Unit.
Feed Management - Feed allocation and management.
Stock Management - Ensuring calf health and wellbeing is maintained to a high degree at all times.
Farm/Asset Maintenance - Maintenance of the farm and supporting infrastructure including buildings, equipment, machinery, fences and races as required.
Behaviours - strive for sustainable business excellence, use initiative and flexibility in adapting to change, and communicate in an inclusive manner
Relationship / Stakeholder Interaction - Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with key individuals, hapu, iwi, and industry sector partners
Health and Safety - Proactively advance Health and Safety opportunities internally to develop a positive health and safety culture
Organisational Responsibilities - All policies and procedures are complied with including timely and accurate completion of administration requirements.
