Perpetual Guardian's award-winning Legal Team is seeking an experienced Solicitor/Senior Solicitor to provide expert advice on complex matters, manage litigation work, and support senior leadership on legal risks and obligations.
This role involves building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, mentoring team members, and contributing to a positive, collaborative culture.
Our Head Office is in Auckland; however, we will consider candidates located in other regions including Hamilton, Wellington, and Christchurch.
Key Responsibilities Manage all litigation-related work for complex legal matters Advise and support a portfolio of internal clients on both new and historical complex issues Offer expert legal guidance to key stakeholders on risk, strategy, and legal obligations Assist senior leadership in navigating risk management, strategic approach, and legal responsibilities Lead relationship management with key stakeholders and contribute to project work as directed by the legal services manager Represent the legal team and the company as an ambassador, both internally and externally Provide mentorship and support to the legal team, fostering growth and development Contribute to building a positive, collaborative culture and actively share best practices across the legal team and broader business Skills, Knowledge & Expertise At least 5 years of relevant experience, including litigation, or an equivalent background Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and work independently to meet objectives Experience in the Financial Services and/or Trust and Estate industries (preferred) Strong skills in managing client and stakeholder relationships In-depth knowledge of New Zealand laws and legal system Strong understanding of key business drivers and revenue generation Proven written and verbal communication skills Job Benefits You will join an organisation passionate about its vision, purpose and values and a team of professionals passionate about providing services to our clients.
