Last year, our dedicated team facilitated over 3,000 births. We care for women from 32 weeks gestation and operate a 12-bed Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU). With a caesarean section rate of around 24%, our ward collaborates closely with Lead Maternity Carers (LMCs), offering successful candidates the chance to participate in a higher number of deliveries.Our midwifery-led unit is comprised solely of midwives and consultants, with no registrars. This structure allows us to offer antenatal, postnatal, and birthing services all within one ward, providing you with a comprehensive experience across the full spectrum of midwifery care.At Waitemata District, we offer continuous support and guidance through our Midwife Educator, fostering a nurturing environment and enabling you to maintain your registration and practice according to national guideline standards.
