Position Details
  • 1.0 FTE or full-time position
  • Rostered on-call that includes weekends when on duty
  • Several inpatient units including acute with 15 beds and three full-time Psychiatrists
  • One prison clinic where Psychiatrists see up to four patients every two weeks
  • Medium security or open rehab as part of the forensic community team with a caseload of 30 divided between two Psychiatrists
  • One extended care unit with nine beds that has slow movement through this unit
  • Usually have one court report ongoing that is part of the role with ample time provided to create reports during normal working hours
  • Travel would be limited to providing CL in the region with perhaps two trips a year outside of Christchurch and provide evidence to the courts
  • You would be part of a team that has 6.5 FTE Psychiatrists
  • Multi-disciplinary teams include OTs, Clinical Psychologists, Social workers, Registered Nurses and allied health personnel
Benefits Package
  • 6 weeks annual leave per annum that is defined as working for a minimum of 12 months
  • 13 paid public holidays per annum
  • 10 paid CME days per annum
  • $16,000 for CME per annum
  • There may be some help with airfare and accommodations
  • Reimbursement of indemnity insurance, registration fees and college membership
  • May be eligible for up to 6% matching employer contribution to government actuary approved superannuation scheme
  • Up to 30+ paid sick days a year

Medical Registration

Larry or the employer will handle your entire registration application. All you have to do is to provide the information that he asks for and pay the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) invoices.
