John Jones Steel is one of the largest and most advanced structural steel fabricating enterprises in New Zealand, with over 50 years experience.
We operate throughout New Zealand, with a proven ability to successfully undertake structural steel projects of any magnitude    Due to an ever increasing workload we are now looking for riggers to work on various sites erecting structural steel - some of these projects will require out of town work for long periods of time.

Please Note:  We will only be accepting applications from persons currently residing in NZ and/or those with a valid open work visa (no overseas applicants will be accepted at this time) WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Minimum 2+ years experience in steel erection (or similar) Be familiar with fixing and securing of structural steel elements according to drawings Be able to read and interpret structural steel drawings for the purposes of steel erection on siteBe able to communicate well in English and take direction from others (in English)Ability to undertake and record daily checks of machinery/equipment and report issuesA sound knowledge of mobile crane operations elevated work platforms and all relevant site tools and plantA dogman / rigging licence is preferred, however, not essentialAbility to read and understand a plan and set out of jobsUnderstanding of bolt tightening requirementsCurrent EWP ticket (or similar/training can be provided)Ability to work out of town for extended periods (South Island based)Able to work unsupervised as well as in a team environmentFrom time to time, you will need to work with minimum supervision, so you will need to demonstrate good decision-making and problem-solving skills.A knowledge of fabrication and welding (advantageous)Be physically fitA willingness to positively contribute to a diverse and inclusive environmentWHAT WE OFFER IN RETURN: Pay rates in-line with experience/skillsBe part of a team that is delivering some large scale/ key projects Wide variety of interesting and challenging workA genuine Kiwi company that values its peopleApplicants will be reviewed as they are received, so Don't Delay, Apply Today
