Mystery Creek Community Catchment (MCCC) MCCC has been deeply involved in supporting environmental initiatives within the local catchment and beyond, focusing on predator control, water quality monitoring through eDNA testing, and a variety of other projects aimed at improving our ecosystem. Our efforts bring together the community—including landowners, businesses, and schools—to foster a healthier, more sustainable environment where everyone can live, work, and play.
A key part of our mission is the 'Youth Environmental Education Programme (YEEP),' which offers local primary and intermediate students hands-on learning opportunities across a range of environmental topics. What started with just one school has expanded to four rural schools, and we aim to reach even more in the future. 
The Role As an Environmental Programme Educator with the New Zealand National Fieldays Society, you'll take the lead in creating dynamic, engaging learning activities designed to captivate and inspire. You'll work closely with subject matter experts to develop high-quality content that meets the needs of your audience and aligns with NZQA standards. From crafting interactive media like videos and role plays, to designing assessment tools that effectively measure learner performance, your expertise will drive the programme's success. You'll also implement the programme in schools, gathering feedback to refine and extend its reach, all while preparing to showcase it at Fieldays 2026. This role is divided into two parts spread across two years on a fixed term part time basis. The first year will focus on the Programme Development with the second year focused on the Programme Delivery. Hours per week will be approximately 10 hours with some flexibility up to a maximum of 520 hours per year.
