Kia Puawai is seeking motivated individuals to serve as trustees on our board. As a trustee, you will play a crucial role in governing and providing strategic direction for our innovative charitable not-for-profit organisation. We seek people who represent the communities we serve and are aligned to our mission. We welcome expressions of interest from everyone including young people, the LQBTTQIA+ community, Maori, and Pasifika. We are looking for three new trustees.
About Our Organisation The journey of Kia Puawai began in 1997. We are a national not-for-profit that provides a range of evidence-based and culturally informed services. Our services are aimed at supporting tamariki and rangatahi through whanau-centred approaches to therapy and support. Through our therapy, care, support and mentor services we walk alongside individuals and whanau to help them grow and flourish.
We believe our tamariki, rangatahi and their whanau deserve to thrive. We draw from te ao Maori and te ao Tauiwi knowledge to strengthen wellbeing, mana and wairua. Waka Hourua is a metaphor that guides our strategic journey to integrate te ao Maori and te ao Tauiwi knowledge into all aspects of the way we work, deliver our services, and lead our organisational capability.
Trustee responsibilities Attend bi-monthly board meetings and an annual planning meeting to provide oversight and guidance.Contribute expertise and insights to help shape the organisation's strategic vision.Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards and contractual obligations.Leverage your professional network to identify partnership and funding opportunities.Advocate for the organisation's mission within your community. Ideal Trustee qualifications The time and energy to participate fully as a trustee.Expertise in one or more of the following areas: machinery of government, finance (with the ability to Chair our Finance, Audit and Risk committee), marketing, te reo and tikanga Maori.Demonstrated governance experience.Commitment to the organisation's mission and values.Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse board.
