With a history of over 125 years of providing quality education, we are a well-run and well-resourced school with amazing students, outstanding staff, and a supportive Board and community.

We need a passionate, knowledgeable educator to lead our team, able to deliver rich learning experiences for the students in our care. Someone who can create an environment where every child has a strong sense of belonging, can thrive, and achieve through our RURAL values. Our new Principal will be visible, warm, and engaging with students, staff, whānau, and our wider school community.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Be a dynamic, strategic, and future-focused leader
  2. Have high expectations for individual student learning and success
  3. Ensure quality teaching and rich learning experiences for all students
  4. Model our values of Respect, Uniqueness, Resourcefulness, Achievement, and Leadership
  5. Champion cultural diversity and be inclusive of all ethnicities, backgrounds, and identities
  6. Effectively lead the school through the ongoing development and implementation of a refreshed and coherent localized curriculum
  7. Be capable of continuing to integrate te ao Māori and te reo Māori into Whareama culture and curriculum
  8. Be an excellent communicator with outstanding people skills—this job really is about relationships
  9. Have proven ability to lead, inspire, coach, and empower others
  10. Have strong financial and administrative skills
