ROLE PURPOSE The Fundraising and Marketing Manager is the driving force behind Epilepsy New Zealand (ENZ)'s fundraising income, responsible for all fundraising income.
This is a proactive, hands-on role implementing the fundraising strategy to ensure sustainable, long-term fundraising growth.
Fundraising streams include grants, gifts in wills (bequests), direct mailing, the SeizureSmart and other corporate partnerships programmes and the annual Purple Day Fundraiser.
It is also responsible for and driving engagement and brand awareness through key channels in both the digital and offline space.
Key areas of delivery include: Running Purple Day and managing its promotion with partners and via key media outlets Working up the fundraising value proposition and associated messaging for case for support and other materials Fundraising channel development , including corporate partnerships, grants, direct mail appeals, gifts in Wills and innovations in Purple Day Relationship management of patron, ambassadors, corporate partners, board networks and media Creating and managing content and activities to celebrate key organisation milestones Contribute to the ongoing development and marketing of the SeizureSmart on-line learning portal Line management of the Grants Writer and Digital Coordinator.
PURPLE DAY Recommending and implementing initiatives to drive growth in income and engagement for Purple Day.
Aligning PR, patrons and 70th anniversary with Purple Day Oversee the digital coordinator to manage promotion through social channels Assess and cultivate opportunities for specific corporate partnership engagement with Purple Day Coordinate with schools and businesses and ENZ educators to sign up and implement Purple Day fundraising Assess and cultivate opportunities for innovation in Purple Day fundraising FUNDRAISING VALUE PROPOSITION Develop ENZ's donor value proposition and case for support for key fundraising channels Create supporting materials and resources including sponsorship proposals, copy and brochures.
Work collaboratively and creatively to integrate messages through marketing channels and fundraising materials for cultivating and stewarding donors and sponsors.
Drive the development of best practice fundraising communications, including a bespoke plan for each fundraising stream.
Ensure alignment of brand messaging across all digital and offline touchpoints for a seamless supporter view of the organisation and its core fundraising messaging FUNDRAISING CHANNEL DEVELOPMENT Work in collaboration with the wider team in the implementation and regular review of the fundraising roadmap to encompass all current and potential fundraising income streams, including direct mailing, grants, gifts in Wills (bequests), and corporate partnerships.
Build, develop and deliver a calendar of direct mailing campaigns and undertake end to end delivery Plan and implement strategies to build relationships with corporate partners to establish a corporate giving pipeline Establish a gifts in Wills programme and work with key sector partners to promote this, including assessing the opportunity for Free Will schemes Manage the Grants writer to develop and deliver the trusts and foundations pipeline Set and work to targets, alongside the Board and Chief Executive.
Identify clear goals and action for each fundraising stream, monitor performance and adjust actions RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT Support all donor relationships for existing fundraising activities, including Purple Day schools and businesses Support the Grants Writer in continuing to develop relationships with key funders in trusts and foundations Identify and cultivate prospective corporate partners, patrons and ambassadors Ensure stewardship strategies to thank, aid retention and maintain the loyalty of donors, funders and sponsors are developed and fully implemented Build internal engagement with educators, the board of trustees and wider staff members ORGANISATION MILESTONES Manage ideation and coordination of milestone celebrations e.g.
70th birthday, with a clear focus on fundraising and engagement Align celebrations with existing giving streams to deliver an integrated campaign Work with corporate sponsors, ambassadors and media outlets to drive promotion of the milestone(s) at a national level LINE MANAGEMENT Line management of the Grants Writer and Digital Coordinator providing guidance, direction, support and coaching Establishing annual performance and development plans with clear KPIs, aligned with the fundraising roadmap PERSON SPECIFICATION Education & Professional Development Significant work experience in fundraising or marketing roles, minimum five years, preferably in the health sector.
Educated to degree level or equivalent Commitment to fundraising professional development, preferably a member of FINZ and/or FIA Skills & Experience A successful track record in professional fundraising or marketing and meeting targets Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and take ownership of workload A compassionate leader with proven experience managing and motivating a team Sound understanding of budget management Project management skills and drive and determination to succeed in strategy implementation Strong understanding of analysis and measurement and an ability to report effectively on outcomes A demonstrated history of supporter campaign management and delivery An outstanding networker able to build relationships with corporate supporters, media, sector partners and donors Experience in grant writing, and/or building and maintaining funder relationships Ability to build integrated campaigns across on and offline channels Experience building successful internal relationships at all levels Strong verbal and written communication skills A passion for making supporters feel appreciated, informed, and engaged A warm and engaging people person who is supporter focused with excellent active listening skills and problem-solving abilities.
