Rotorua, New Zealand Rotorua District Council Full time

Position Description

**Social Media Specialist**

Are you a social media expert looking for your next adventure? Rotorua Lakes Council has got the perfect role for you

We're on the hunt for a creative and dynamic Social Media Specialist to join our vibrant team.

Unleash your creativity, engage with our lively community, and tell the stories of our stunning landscapes, groundbreaking initiatives, and heartwarming local tales. We're not just about geysers and mountain biking (although, let's be honest, they're pretty cool) - we're about making a difference and connecting people.

This is a full-time gig with all the perks of working for a local government that truly cares about its community and its employees.

**Responsibilities**:

- Craft and curate captivating content across multiple platforms.
- Engage with our diverse audience and spark conversations.
- Brainstorm and execute innovative strategies to boost our brand presence.
- Analyse metrics incisively to optimise performance.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- 3+ years experience managing social media accounts for a large (some would say complex) organisation.
- Harness creativity, turning innovative ideas into tangible results
- Analytical skills sharper than a freshly squeezed lemon.
- A keen interest in the workings of local and/or central government; and the Rotorua community

Perks:

- Flexible working hours.
- Competitive salary and benefits.
- A team that feels more like family (minus the awkward holiday dinners)
- Unlimited supply of banter to fuel your creativity.

The serious stuff:
Reporting to the Digital Channels and Content Manager, the Social Media Specialist is responsible for supporting the promotion of Rotorua Lakes Council through our active social media platforms including TikTok. This role requires you to work with our design team creating content to support behaviour change and educational awareness.

In return for your skills and experience you will be supported by a strong, diverse team including specialists across media, communications, digital, animation, marketing, and design.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity to join an eclectic team of adrenaline junkies, animal lovers, food fanatics, retro nerds, travel enthusiasts and true crime junkies - but the one thing we all have in common is: we are passionate about our city.

Te Kaunihera o nga Roto o Rotorua (Rotorua Lakes Council) is committed to biculturalism and working in partnership with Te Arawa, our local iwi. We value staff who have an openness and appreciation of Maori values, te reo and tikanga Maori.

So, if you're ready to take your social media game to new heights and contribute to our mission of making Rotorua an incredible place to live, work, and play, we want to hear from you
