We are looking for a Development Planning Team Leader to join our great team. This is an exciting role that will give you plenty of variety and opportunities to play a role in achieving great outcomes for Auckland's future developments. You will:

- Manage a team which facilitates Auckland Transport's involvement in development proposals and resource consents, and collaboratively work with a diverse range of multi-disciplinary teams across Auckland Transport to provide expert advice to Auckland Council and developers.
- Lead a team which undertakes Auckland Transport's specialist review of significant development projects and gives advice on the effects for the transport network, as well as informing the design of streets and neighbourhoods.
- Ensure that as land use change occurs, we are able to plan and operate the transport network for the future and provide for more transport choice, connections and liveability through well designed streets and neighbourhoods.
- Provide a specific focus on the team's successful delivery of a customer focussed service, high quality professional inputs, and robust communication and decision-making processes
- Share your knowledge and expertise across a variety of organisational workstreams and learn about how the transport and urban development systems work together
- Play a key role in mentoring and facilitating the development of team members and practice leadership

**Ko koe tēnei | About you**
- Significant experience in urban planning and/ or transport planning/ engineering
- Experience in managing a team.
- An excellent understanding and knowledge of the statutory planning framework. Knowledge and understanding of legislation relating to resource management and local government.
- Excellent understanding of the relationship between policy and practice, and the ability to shape and implement transport design principles in the resource management process.
- Ability to inform complex planning and transport positions and experience in presenting these positions in evidence, hearings and mediation preferred.
- Expertise in engaging and partnering with a range of stakeholders and a strong focus on customer service.
- Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
