Hill Labs are looking for a Business Unit Manager for our Asbestos testing services. We are IANZ accredited to analyse and report suspected asbestos containing materials, asbestos in soil and asbestos fibre counting.

We are proud to provide New Zealanders with the best analytical testing service on offer and over the last 30 years Hill Labs has grown to become New Zealand’s largest privately owned analytical laboratory.

This new role will lead the operational and business development functions of our distributed asbestos testing service, focusing on business retention and growth while supporting a great work experience for our staff across three small teams located in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.

**Reporting to the General Manager Operations** **this role can be based in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington or Christchurch**, and is an exciting opportunity for a talented business manager who is passionate about asbestos management to join our organisation. Leading and coordinating operations is an important aspect of this role but successful relationship management, sales, and business development activity is also fundamental. National travel is required.

**Skills and experience required**
- If you can demonstrate your capability to lead the growth of a technical business and you have interest and awareness of asbestos testing and its management in NZ, prior laboratory experience is not essential for this role
- People leadership; excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage, effectively lead and develop team across multiple sites
- Customer relationship management; proven record of customer service focus with excellent communication skills, experience in sales and business development
- Financial, commercial, and technical capability; ability to successfully lead and manage a technical business with a focus on profitability and growth in a competitive environment

**Qualifications**
- A tertiary qualification at diploma level or above in a science related field or qualifications in asbestos management are desirable
- 5-10 years relevant experience
