Social Worker, Tamaki Makaurau Specialist Teams

We are looking for multiple, dynamic Social Workers to join our team based in Grey Lynn, Tāmaki Makaurau
This opportunity will suit someone who is passionate and is willing to give new things a go. Someone who feels confident working through tricky and challenging situations and is willing to evidence kaitiakitanga in their practice. Someone who embraces whakamanawa, whakapapa and working alongside whānau, hapu and iwi.
Mō te tūnga | About the role
The Tāmaki Makaurau Specialist Teams (TMS) site based at the Grey Lynn Oranga Tamariki office and work with complex tamariki, rangatahi and whānau. Utilising intensive social work practice and some specific therapeutic models the teams work throughout Tāmaki Makaurau.
The Social Workers in TMS work with fewer tamariki, rangatahi and whānau than Social Workers at other sites to better enable intensive engagement and to work with the increased complexity. Additionally, the team works in partnership with each other ensuring that kia mahi and tamariki, rangatahi and whānau have significant support to provide the best practice and support.
**The team objectives include**:
- Stabilising - accessing range of supports and options available to Oranga Tamariki
- Engaging - identifying the strengths, needs and risks including but not limited to whakapapa, whanaungatanga, mana tamaiti, safety, health, education, identity, and wellbeing.
- Developing creative and individual plans in conjunction with whanau and professional support network.
- Implementing, monitoring, and managing the individual plans.
- Reviewing plans to determine any changes required and reporting to the appropriate court.
In addition to working alongside a supportive team, staff in TMS have regular internal and external supervision as well as training in addition to the regular Oranga Tamariki staff training (such as Motivational Interviewing, Intensive Wraparound Service Programme and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy).

- knowledge of Family or/and Youth Court
- Motivated to provide a high level of practice to tamariki, rangatahi and whānau.
- Experience in managing complex tamariki, rangatahi and whānau.
- Love being a team player and support others where needed.
- Knowledge of current models of practice
- Understanding and practice of self-care to create resilience.
- Social work registration and annual practicing certificate.
- Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori and te Tiriti o Waitangi.
