We have a 17 year old son with autism and are looking for someone to spend time with him for a few hours each weekend. We are flexible on timing, as we are more interested in having the right person. Our son is verbal and quite independent (he likes to make his own order at subway, he has an iPhone and manages his own spending money). He has a great sense of humour and is pretty easy to manage. We are looking for someone kind and caring who will take him for a walk, out to the mall, to places of interest (eg. museum, toy museum, orana park)and generally just keep him company and keep him safe.

We live in Westmorland. We have pets so probably best if the person isn't scared of cats or dogs

There is the possibility of extra hours in holidays and overnight stays so that we can go away.

This role might suit a teaching, psychology or speech language student wanting to gain some experience with someone who has additional needs.
