**Philanthropy Officer**:

- New Zealand Red Cross or Ripeka Whero Aotearoa is a humanitarian organisation, which has more than 15,000 members and volunteers. Every day, Red Cross help vulnerable people all around New Zealand - supporting them in times of disaster or emergency, helping new Kiwis resettle here and other community services such as delivering hot meals and first aid courses._

Reporting to the Philanthropy Team Lead, you will be responsible for supporting the development of Red Cross’ major donor and bequest programmes as well as managing a portfolio of legacy donors and prospects and providing major donor stewardship.

Working collaboratively alongside the wider Philanthropy team, you will help to build, nurture and maintain trusted relationships with existing and prospective donors and supporters and deliver a range of personalised donor engagement and recognition activities to influence and attract both significant personal gifts and/or pledges of a gift in their Will to New Zealand Red Cross.

You will have the opportunity to assist and participate in local, regional and national fundraising activities, and facilitate and deliver speaking engagements to various local community groups to identify prospective major donors and bequestors.

To get the most out of this role, you will be a confident communicator who has a natural knack for connecting with people and confident at presenting ideas in front of groups and individuals. You are enthusiastic, driven, keen to learn and able to explain the concept of hope to influence people to want to support a good cause.

**Person Profile**:

- Experience in a customer-centric, member service, supporter stewardship, relationship or people-focused role, or similar
- Highly developed interpersonal and relational skills with ability to work with a wide range of people at all levels and work effectively across teams
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to present ideas in front of a group and individuals
- Well-organised with the ability to prioritise, manage workload and meet deadlines
- A motivated self-starter with a positive ‘can do’ attitude
- A keen attitude and aptitude towards learning
- Computer literate and proficient with using MS Office and databases
- An understanding and/or empathy towards the mission and values of the Red Cross
- Knowledge or experience with fundraising databases (Raiser’s Edge) would be desirable but not essential
- Experience working in a fundraising and/or within a charitable environment would be advantageous but not essential
- Must have a NZ driver’s licence and access to a reliable car
