The Head of Kaupapa Māori is a senior position responsible for championing and promoting the principles of Kaupapa Māori both internally and within the organisations that we work with.

The role is responsible for growing the number of active users in our Te Ao Māori for Professionals courses. This is done by working closely with purchasing and non-purchasing Government agencies and businesses around Aotearoa.

Responsibilities include:

- **Strategy Development**: Develop, lead, and implement a comprehensive Kaupapa Māori strategy to support growth in the Te Ao Māori for Professionals team.
- **Cultural Advocacy**: Act as an advocate for Māori cultural understanding and support the organisation in engaging positively and respectfully with Māori communities.
- **Reporting and Evaluation**: Monitor, manage and report on the Business objectives and KPI’s for the Te Ao Māori for Professionals team.
- **Relationship Building**: Establish and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, community leaders, and organisations.
- **People Management** - Manage and mentor a team of Business development and Customer success managers.
- Supporting Global Curriculum Leads with multicultural engagement.

**Requirements**:

- **Matatau ki ngā āhuatanga o te ao Māori** - proficient speaker of te reo Māori with proven experience leading within kaupapa Māori. Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi within both a historical and contemporary setting.
- **He ringa hāpai**:

- deeply passionate and knowledgeable about te ao Māori and educating those who are willing and eager to learn.
- **He wairua māhaki**:

- Personable, but also confident, when facilitating hui with a diverse range of existing and potential partners.
- **He rangatira te tū** - Te Ao Māori values driven - upholds and embodies manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, rangatiratanga, tohungatanga, kaitiakitanga and tauutuutu.
- **He ihuoneone, he ringa tōhau nui** - hardworking and committed to this kaupapa and those (internally and externally) that champion our wider te reo and te ao Māori aspirations.
- **E rere te huata, kapohia** - adaptable - can easily adapt to opportunities that benefit our kaupapa and those we serve.
- **He pou whirinaki** - a dependable person who is committed to our team and the greater kaupapa.
- Strong understanding and appreciation of Māori culture, history, and values, with a commitment to promoting cultural awareness and understanding.
- Proven leadership and management experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of Te Reo Māori (Māori language) is highly desirable, and a willingness to learn and support its revitalization efforts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, both within and outside the organisation.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to develop and execute long-term plans aligned with Kaupapa Māori principles.
- Demonstrated commitment to cultural sensitivity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

Over 350 organisations are already part of the EP whānau and we have only just begun our mission to help organisations build their comfort and confidence with key aspects of the Māori World.
