FENZ are seeking a dynamic fire engineer to join as the Auckland team leader in the fire engineering unit. The work is varied and provides the opportunity to make a real difference to fire safety in NZ.

**Mō tēnei tūranga - About the role**
The FENZ Fire Engineering Team undertake a wide range of technical activities, these include:

- Fire engineering advice to stakeholders including the review of building consent designs
- Post fire investigation
- Representing FENZ in national and international forums (NZ Standards, Australasian Fire Authority, etc)
- Research
- Projects including fire station design

The Auckland team leader is responsible for managing and coordinating the work of the Auckland fire engineering team. As part of the engineering leadership team you will play a significant role in identifying improvements in Legislation, Standards, Codes and Guides that will improve fire safety practise. This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer to take a larger role and influence the practice of fire safety engineering.

**Ko tāu nā ki tēnei tūranga - What you’ll bring to the role**
- Post graduate degree in fire engineering and a minimum of 7 years experience
- Ability to build collaborative working relationships with a wide range of people and organisations
- Subject matter expertise that you would love to share with our wider team
- Strong communication skills that include communication of highly technical information to non-technical audiences
- Strong sense of curiosity and willingness to learn new skills
- A passion for wider-community focussed outcomes
- Big-picture thinking to influence project, organisational and legislative change
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, process driven and sometimes changeable environment
- Strong comprehension skills for large or conflicting pieces of information, and ability to work with others to agree a logical way forward
- Experience in researching, analysing information to problem-solve
- A passion for supporting, raising-up and celebrating success within our team
