About the roles
District Police Intelligence Units support District Police leaders and frontline officers in preventing crime and harm through exceptional policing. Our mahi is used to inform deployment of resources, understand the criminal environment and crime problems, and facilitate evidence-based action and prevention.
We are recruiting multiple Tactical Intelligence Analysts/Senior Analysts who will be based within Bay of Plenty, Eastern, Central and Tasman District Intelligence Units.
Our Intelligence Analysts (Tactical) work to support the Police Tactical Response Model (TRM). No day will be the same in this role. You will provide Tactical Intelligence to tactical decision makers, that is timely, accurate, clear, and relevant. We need people who are innovative and want to work with us to develop our Tactical Intelligence capability.
You will be providing Tactical Intelligence that primarily supports the newly-formed Offender Prevention Teams, as well as Armed Offenders Squad (AOS) and other frontline operational areas. Your intelligence analysis will be used to disrupt the criminal environment, facilitate arrests, assist with surveillance operations, target offenders, and gather evidence.
You must be able to cope with the nature of the work we undertake, and the organisational challenges presented in Police Intelligence. There may be occasions where you and your team will need to deploy to another location at short notice.
The preferred applicant will have a sound knowledge of Intelligence practices and crime science, and experience in scenario generation, including scanning and exploring future states.

To succeed in this role, you need to be comfortable and confident when talking to others and willing to build your understanding of policing and Intelligence. You will need to work with people from a wide range of internal and external workgroups and agencies. Communication is key as you will be presenting analysis through written reporting and verbal briefings to a range of audiences. Time will not always be your friend.
A basic understanding of Geospatial Intelligence analysis and some radio communications experience is desirable but not essential.
This position would be ideal for individuals with analytical experience wanting the opportunity to broaden their range/experience or take the next step in their career. You may be new to New Zealand Police and would like to learn and develop under the guidance of an experienced Intelligence team.

- The Tasman (Nelson) role is open to both Analyst/Senior Analyst
- The two Eastern (Gisborne) roles are open to Analyst only
- The Central (Palmerston North) role is open to Analyst only
- The two Bay of Plenty (Tauranga / Rotorua) roles are open to both Analyst/Senior Analyst
