Melter Tapper X2

New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors. You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.

**What you will be doing**

We have 2x 6-month fixed term opportunities available to join our Melter’s team as a Melter Tapper.

While working within a hot environment you will be responsible for the continuity of operations in the production of metal and slag, together with general housekeeping duties as directed.

You will need to enjoy working autonomously within a fast-paced environment and team and be able to adapt to change with ease, you will thrive under pressure. Excellent verbal and written communication along with proven problem-solving skills are essential to be successful in this role.

This is a shift position with the regular hours being 42 hours per week (12 hour / 4 shift rotating pattern) however to ensure that operational requirements are met you may be required to work additional hours when needed.

**What you will bring to the role**

We are looking for people who can manage their time efficiently, have good spatial awareness and can work as part of a wider team. You will need to demonstrate a commitment to teamwork along with a willingness to positively contribute to a diverse and inclusive work environment and have an uncompromising attitude towards health and safety. A good level of physical fitness is a requirement for this role.

Previous experience in a manufacturing environment or working in the Melter’s is advantageous.
