**Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role**

We are embarking on a strategy to reposition Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga/ Ministry of Education's, digital landscape and connect the provision of digital services within the Ministry and, increasingly, to customers across the sector, partner agencies, and ultimately teachers/principals, ākonga and their whānau. As a member of Te Uepū Matihiko (Digital/IT Group) you will help champion this change as we transform the way we work.

The practice manager will design, implement, and manage a sustainable practice that is best placed to support our overall strategy and operating model, aligning people to our work programmes, and creating an agile and high performing culture.

This role has a critical function in building and designing our practice framework and models while adhering to a continuous improvement mind-set to ensure operational excellence and delivery of our overall objectives to ensure we are fit for the future.

This multi-faceted and influential role involves:

- Develop and manage a framework ensuring capability, methodology and tools support delivery of work and pipeline of resources including vendor partners
- Support and maintain a community of practice where information and knowledge is shared
- Role model authentic work in the practice continually up-skilling and developing yourself and kaimahi, encouraging a culture of accountability, trust, and self-sufficiency
- Implement standards and tools that deliver continuous delivery frameworks that will promote and establish a reliable and future proofed practice
- Salary band $114,411- $171,617 + _3% kiwi saver
- The appointing salary will depend on level of experience, skills, and relativity. _

Roles are located in Wellington though we are open to remote working with regular travel to Wellington as required.

You will be a forward-looking leader who can think big and broad and who will thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment. You will be an expert/leader in your field and considered a guru in your community of practice with thorough and current knowledge in your chosen discipline.

You will need the following:

- An ability to direct and deliver process enhancement initiatives that facilitate strategic change
- Project management skills, with the ability to bring multiple workstreams together to deliver on time and within budget
- demonstrated leadership and development of multidisciplinary, high-performing teams or groups
- Passionate about developing talent and enhancing people and team/squads' performance to effectively coach and adopt new ways of working
- High attention to detail and outstanding writing skills, able to translate into simple clear language
- An aptitude towards problem solving and able to deliver on deadlines, manage budgets, and drive results
- Demonstrated experience influencing strategic solutions and leading planning sessions within the various technical and business units.
- Technical leadership experience with designing, developing and the delivery of system integration programmes of work
- Conceptual thinker who can translate and support our aspirations into actionable practice
